![]() Of course the firework crossbows does have a few weaknesses:ġ:Expensive ammunition, every 3 shots of the firework crossbow costs 8 gunpowder, 7 dye and 1 paper which is absurdly expensive. Finally the crossbows natural ability to be pre loaded allows it to have a first hit advantage and is a good on demand weapon for emergencies or capturing opportunities. Additionally unlike the classic bow and arrow it works underwater. The moment you have more than 1 enemy the firework crossbows dps will skyrocket far above the ST locked bow and also the other 3 weapons. Remember that this is all ignoring the fact that we are talking about ST situations in which is the ideal scenario for the bow. Thus its dps will usually be higher than a bow. This allows almost 0s wasted to aim making its dps nearly identical in both theory and practice. This is due to its massive aoe allowing you to only need to shoot in the general direction of the target for it to hit. On the other hand in practical situations the firework crossbow will be usually fired immediately after it is loaded. Hence the bows actual dps in practice is lower than on paper. This is as in practice you will rarely be shooting the bow the moment you finish loading it as you usually have to take some time to aim, this is especially true against highly mobile enemies. Theoretically, the bow will have slightly higher dps than the firework crossbow but in practice the opposite is often true. Hence the main competitor of the crossbow is the bow and I have seen that most people believe that in late game the bow is simply better, but I disagree thanks to fireworks. Meanwhile the trident is really a jack of all trade master of none weapon, good for saving space in your hotbar but basically never the best choice for anything. As a ranged weapon it already has a massive advantage over the sword and the axe. Out of the five main weapons in the game (Sword, Axe, Trident, Bow, Crossbow), I personally think that the crossbow is by far the best. *Note this is about late game where the weapons are fully maxed out in terms material quality, enhancements, and ammunition.
